Sandra Berbeco -- About the artist

About the artist
Sandra has been working in the arts for 25 years. She has studied sculpture at the Museum School, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, during the 1980’s and early 1990’s. Also, at that time, she studied drawing, painting & printmaking at the New Art Center, Newton, MA.

She works on a theme or image for about two years: expanding and contracting, abstracting and reconstructing on the picture plane – in watercolors and acrylic paint. She has also experimented with mixed mediums, cast bronze, stone carving, wood working, performance art, cast plaster of paris and clay. Images or themes may be left dormant for a while and then revisited with new ideas in a few years. Her paintings have been seen in such diverse spaces as Skip Jack’s restaurant in Copley Square, Boston, and Burlington Vermont International Airport.

Sandra earned a Certificate of Museum Studies, in 2001, from Harvard Extension – completing her program with an internship at the Shelburne Museum, Shelburne, Vermont. She researched tableware in Colonial America as it is related to the Museum collection.

She is part of the Artists’ cooperative at 215 College St, Burlington, Vermont begun in April 2006. Currently, she sits on the Board of Directors of Burlington City Arts and is also a member of the exhibitions committee at the New Art Center, Newton, MA. Sandra lives in Shelburne, Vt. with her husband David Coen. She has three adult children, two adult step-children and one beautiful grandchild.
